The Kenyan international was a second half substitute as Azam FC kickstarted their season with a 2-1 win over Kagera Sugar in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Kagera Sugar who are under the tutelage of 2006 Kenyan Premier League winner Francis Baraza stunned the crowd at the Chamazi Sports Complex when Anuary Jabiri opened the scoring in the 10th minute.

Azam did not stay behind for long as they restored parity seven minutes later through Prince Dube who nodded the ball home just a few yards off the line.

The ice cream makers took the lead in the 58th minute when Tepsi Evans brought down a cross to rifle the ball into the back of the net as Azam went on to collect three points.

The former Gor mahia defender was an unused substitute as Simba SC thumped Geita Gold 3-0 in the Tanzanian Premier League opener to move to the top of the standings.

Augustine Okrah opened the scoring for Simba in the 36th minute courtesy of a sublime freekick that caught the Geita Gold goalkeeper off guard with his quick thinking.

Simba had a mirror start to the second half and finally doubled their advantage two minutes after the hour mark when Moses Phiri tapped from close range.

The former league champions capped off their brilliant performance in the game with a goal from the penalty spot that was expertly dispatched by Clatous Chama.
