'Mr. Dependable' Elly Saenyi speaks on why he is a big game player

The St. Antony Boys Kitale alumnus said that he is now enjoying life in Murang'a after having a difficult time at Ulinzi Stars
Murang'a Seal midfielder Elly Saenyi has disclosed the reasons why he prefers to play in big games’ as opposed to other regular matches.
Saenyi joined the Murang'a-based club during the off-season transfer window from military side Ulinzi Stars as Seal was bolstering their squad ahead of the season.
The former Zoo FC man has been impressive for his new club, where he has featured in almost all matches but has produced better performances when facing the ‘big’ sides.

Saenyi revealed to Mozzart Sport that he enjoys the big games and shared his reasons why.
“If you cannot play well in those big matches, it means you cannot be dependable for the team. Actually, it's easier to play in big matches than the rest, especially for a player who likes to express himself like me.
In big matches, there is always freedom and time given by the opponent while the other matches involve a lot of physicality and pressing that makes it difficult,” said Saenyi.
The St. Anthony's High School - Kitale alumnus also said that he is enjoying life in Murang'a after having a difficult time at Ulinzi Stars, where he found playtime hard to come by.
“I have started most games this season and played in almost all, which is so significant for me to regain my full form.
I feel good. As a player, the more you play, the more your confidence grows, and gives you the opportunity and freedom to express yourself,” he stated.
The 2022 National Super League (NSL) top scorer also shared his assessment of the team's progress at this point of the season.
“Our team is majorly made up of Gen Zs and a few senior players. We have always had to push ourselves to make an impact in matches because this is our time to showcase our talents,” he said.
Murang'a Seal's next match will be on Sunday 15 December against Posta Rangers, and Saenyi believes the win over Mathare United puts them in a better position ahead of the match.
“It has brought morale to the team. Had we lost the match, the morale would have been low heading into our game against Posta Rangers at home, and so we had to put in the effort to win.”
