The match started at a high tempo, both teams resorting to long direct balls in attack in search of an early goal but none was forthcoming by the fifth minute.
BB Bread who had plenty of their fans drawn from the Kayole area in the stadium benefitted from cheers every time they touched the ball even as they searched for a goal.
Kayole’s fire was extinguished in the eighth minute when Eric Zakayo picked a loose ball outside the box and unleashed a ferocious shot that was deflected into the back of the net.
The Nairobi regional side responded by launching a series of attacks, most notably in the 10th minute, when a shot was directed into the arms of David Ogembo in the Police goal.
The Kayole-based side was back at it in the 14th minute, but a long range shot on a half volley was off target.
BB had another opportunity to level the scores in the 20th minute from a free kick, but Daniel Sakari was there to make an important intervention and clear the ball.
The next chance fell to the Police in the 22nd minute as Burkinable forward Yves Koutiama put Quansah through on goal, but the Ghanaian took time to pull the trigger, allowing goalkeeper Ezekiel Owade to narrow and make a save.
The law enforcers had another chance a minute later when from a free kick outside the area, Sakari found the target but Owade was hawk-eyed and pulled a brilliant save.
BB then had a flurry of corners from their attacks that were cheered by their faithful but none yielded a goal as the two teams settled for a 1-0 scoreline in favour of Police at the break.
In the second half, BB picked from where they left and had a glorious chance in the 49th minute when Olivier Iryamukuru got to the end of a pass inside the box and pulled the trigger, but Ogembo was there to pull an acrobatic save and preserve Police’s lead.
BB who were now in ascension were causing Police all sorts of problems, especially on transitions but were let down by misplaced passes in the final third.
Police had a chance in the 58th minute from a free kick but South Sudan international Charles Ouma headed over the bar from close range.
In a bid to strengthen their attack, Police brought in Brian Chonjo for Koutiama, as Geoffrey Onyango came on for Hernest Malonga in defense to contain the BB attacks.
BB had a go at goal in the 74th minute when Dominic Waithaka unleashed a feroci
ous shot from a free kick, but it could not go past the Police wall.
Substitute Charles Munala had a chance to equalize for BB in the 80th minute when he got into the end of a cross but his header went over the bar with Ogembon rooted at his post.
Police had a rare chance in the 87th minute through Tobias Otieno, who took a long range shot that went just wide.
BB had the last chance of the game in the 92nd minute when Iryamukuru found a loose ball outside the box and attempted a shot but it went wide as Police secured victory.
With the defeat, BB Bread’s journey in the Mozzart Bet Cup comes to an end.
However, they will have a memorable season having eliminated Kenyan giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia and suffered a slim defeat to the FKF Premier League defending champions.
