Mr Special One was asked if he has had any regrets in his almost 30 years in the game. And that one stands out, indeed...
When you have a career as successful and long as Jose Mourinho has had in the last three decades, there are so many brilliant moments, but also more than a few regrets. Still, some are bigger than others. According to Mr Special One, one truly stands out...
Speaking to CdS, as quoted by Diario AS, Mourinho was asked if he had any regrets in his three decades in the game.
"Many, if we talk about games. In terms of professional decisions, the 'no' to Florentino [Perez's] offer to continue at Real Madrid. He told me: 'Mou, don't leave now, you've already done the difficult part, now the best bit begins.' I knew it was true, but I wanted to return to Chelsea after three years of great challenges in Spain," explained Mourinho.
He spent three years at the Santiago Bernabeu and won one La Liga against Pep Guardiola's Barcelona.
After taking over from Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti led Los Blancos to their first Champions League in more than a decade.
