Mourinho gets his "Special One" ice-cream in Rome

Jose Mourinho signed a three year contract with Roma on May 4th 2021. Five days later, this is still news in Italy. Former and current players are reacting, Roma stocks are rising (25% after the official announcement was made) and it seems that everybody want to jump on the Mourinho wagon – even the food and beverage industry.

The Portuguese has become a brand over the years, and people want to make money from him, even without his direct participation. Italy is a country well known for best ice-creams, and one of local parlors in Rome invented the desert honoring Mourinho, and advertised it via Instagram.

The ice-cream is off course called „The Special One“ and is described as “a breath of fresh air, joy and energy!” It has citrus flavors mixed in with white chocolate. The same ice cream parlor in Rome has also used his famous image of wrists crossed in a handcuffs gesture. Rather than his catchphrase, Zero Titoli (Zero Titles), it is transformed into Zero Zuccheri (Zero Sugar). Mourinho, who also has Instagram account, replied to the post by asking for mango and strawberry ice cream.

The Portuguese was also honored by a mural in Rome, depicting the incoming coach riding a Vespa appearing in the Testaccio neighbourhood. The mural was created by the street artist Harry Greb and represents the Special One driving the iconic Vespa.

“I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for Roma. It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together, we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years” said „The Special One“ after the announcement from Roma.

The fans are excited, Mourinho is excited, the entertainment industry is excited... but let’s wait the new season and the results...
