Ronaldo recently joined Saudi side Al Nassr

Former Tusker FC, AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers defender David "Cheche" Ochieng believes the Saudi top-tier will soon attract more international stars following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr.

Cheche, who has previously played for Saudi top-tier side Al Tawoun and second-tier side Al Ansar, says Cristiano's move will make the league attractive for stars who have previously preferred the Major League Soccer (MLS) after exiting Europe's elite leagues.

"The football culture in Saudi Arabia has changed tremendously. The new Prince (Mohammed bin Salman) is trying to make football great in Saudi but even back then when I played there people really loved the game so Cristiano's move is just the icing on the cake," Cheche told Mozzart Sport,

"Al Nassr social media accounts are blowing up and people are thronging their shops to buy jerseys. The country is so excited to have Cristiano playing in their league. I was talking to a Kenyan friend who works as a driver there and he told me everyone is talking about Cristiano. They can' wait to see him live in action. I think a lot of players are going to move Saudi, Cristiano has opened the doors," he added.

Al Nassr currently top the standings of the Saudi top-tier with 26 points from 11 matches. They face seventh-placed Al Tai on Thursday 5th January in what could be Cristiano's debut.
