’Money-hungry piranha’ comes in, and troubles arise: Bayern stop negotiatons with Coman

Money grabbing agent, arrogant friend of the family and 1 billion difference. That’s why Bayern Munich stopped negotiations with Kingsley Coman. After experiencing the similar situation with David Alaba and dealing with the same agent (Pini Zahavi), the Bavarians rushed to secure contract extension with their talented winger two years before the end of his contract, but so far, they failed. And if brows were raised when it appeared that Bayern are looking to secure Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, after this, that news seems reasonable.

Negotiations were handled by Bayern’s technical director and former chief scout Marco Neppe on the other side, and Christian, Coman’s father, along with an unnamed friend of the family.  According to Bild, the appearance of the friend of the family - father Christian was not present at the last conversations - is said to have felt Neppe ’disrespectful and arrogant’.

But friend of the family is not the biggest problem. In the meantime, Coman decided to hire the (in)famous agent Pini Zahavi (77) as his advisor for the English transfer market, which indicates that the player is already considering his options. The Israeli football agent already negotiated a contract with Bayern’s top earner Robert Lewandowski and was influential in Alaba’s move to Real Madrid on a free transfer. Bayern’s experience with the agent? ’Money-hungry piranha“ – that’s how former Bayern president Uli Hoenes calls him.

And the most important thing – his wage. Nothing good to report here either. 1.5 billion Ksh is what Coman earns annually now, and Bayern would like to offer a little rise, which would come to over 1.7 billion. But the Frenchman is in another universe, he want’s to be paid close to Leroy Sane – 2.7 billion. And while Coman probably deserves that wage, compared to Sane’s performances in Bayern, the corona crisis ruined everything and the Bundesliga champions won’t give him that kind of money. So, the negotiations have stopped at the moment.

So, if Coman situation escalates, Bayern will not wait until 2022, when the player will have an upper hand, but they will promote Hudson-Odoi. So far, Bayern have three good wingers – Coman, Gnabry and Sane. The Chelsea player would be welcomed as a good competition, but could soon find himself playing very often, in case Coman is sold.
