Michael Olunga featured for Al Duahil in the FIFA Club World Cup as they finished fifth with Aboud Omar extending his goal scoring streak.
Kenyan stars abroad registered mixed fortunes over the weekend with Aboud Omar scoring for the second successive game for Lonikos and Michael Olunga featuring for Al Duhail in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Aboud Omar
Kenyan International Aboud Omar scored a last gasp 90+9 minute winner for Lonikos in the Greek Super League 2 to help his side to a 1-0 win over Panachaiki on Sunday, February 7.
The left-back has now scored in two consecutive games for Lonikos after scoring in the winner again in the 2-1 win over Lerapetra on Wednesday, January 27.
Lonikos won a free-kick just outside the box deep into stoppage time as Aboud was quickest to react to the set-piece that hit the post to take his tally to two since signing for the club in September 2020 after staying for almost a year without a club.
His impressive form is likely to earn him a recall back to the Harambee Stars squad for the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers with Eric Marcelo Ouma yet to play regular football following his long term injury.
Michael Olunga
Kenyan International Michael Olunga lasted 61 minutes for Al Duhail in the 3-1 win over Ulsan Hyundai in the 5th place final after losing to African champions Al Ahly Cairo in the 2nd Round.
The Japanese MVP missed out on a glorious opportunity in the first half as he blazed his tap in over when he had a gaping goal in front of him leaving him without a goal in the continental showpiece.
Olunga becomes the second Kenyan to feature in the tourney since MacDonald Mariga became the first to do so back in 2010 after his Inter Milan side won the UEFA Champions League.
Edmilson Junior opened the scoring for Duhail in the 29th minute with a low effort into the bottom right corner with Yoon Bit-Garam equalising for Hyundai in the 62nd minute.
Duhail restored their lead four minutes later through Mohammed Muntari with Ali Almoez assuring the win for the Qatari champions eight minutes from time.

Johana Omollo
Kenyan International Johana Omollo amassed 78 minutes for Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor in the 1-1 draw against Kayseri in the Turkish 1st Lig on Sunday, February 7.
Since making the switch to the club in the January transfer window, Omollo has started every game for the club steering them from last on the log to 18th and just two points from relegation safety.
Chahechouhe Atif opened the scoring for Erzurumspor in the 24th minute but they were reduced to 10 men when Yaw Ackah was shown a red card for a second bookable offence in the 34th minute.
Ilhan Parlak netted the equalizer for Kayseri in the 72nd minute with Erzurumspor holding on to the point as they continue to move out of the relegation dog fight.
