Wanyama was the only Kenyan who plies his trade in the US to suffer defeat on Sunday.

Kenyan international Victor Wanyama skippered Club de Foot Montréal as they fell 2-1 to Major Soccer League (MLS) strugglers Inter Miami while Nabi Kibunguchy, Tobias Otieno and Philip Mayaka’s sides avoided defeats.

Victor Wanyama

The 30-year-old was trusted with another starting berth as he was again handed the armband but received the game's first yellow card for a rash sliding tackle on González Pírez in the 17th minute.

Montréal then broke the deadlock in the 20th minute after the goalkeeper slipped a tap in by Mason Toye but the loose ball fell to Joaquin Torres who fired the ball home as they went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Miami head coach Phil Neville's halftime team talk inspired them to victory as former Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain took only four minutes to restore parity from the penalty spot.

The Argentine forward was again on hand to put Miami ahead nine minutes after the hour mark as Montréal failed to clear their lines with the ball falling to Higuain whose powerful effort was too strong for the keeper as they ended their seven-game winless run.

Nabi Kibunguchy

Kenyan centre back Nabi Kibunguchy missed Sacramento Republic’s 3-1 win over New York Red Bulls 2 in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship.

A five-minute brace from Luis Fernandes and a strike from Dariusz Formella who reacted fasted to slot home his saved penalty was enough for Sacramento to claim victory while Jeremy Rafanello scored a second-half consolation goal.

Tobias Otieno

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Tobias Otieno clocked 90 minutes for Union Omaha as they settled for a 1-1 draw against North Texas in the United Soccer League (USL) League One.

Greg Hurst broke the deadlock for Omaha in the 20th minute while Tanzanian forward Bernard Kamungo who had just been on the pitch for three minutes claimed a point for Texas in the 49th minute.

Philip Mayaka

Kenyan midfielder Philip Mayaka sat out of Colorado Springs' 3-1 win over Loudoun in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship.

After a goalless first half, the game finally sprung to life in the 63rd minute when Michael Edwards put Springs ahead with Dantouma Toure doubling their advantage two minutes later.

Kimarni Smith pulled one back for Loudoun in the 70th minute but Hadji Barry restored Springs two-goal cushion in the 92nd minute to claim all three points.
