Miracles do happen after all: Nuno grabs his first West Ham win as Hammers beat Newcastle

The Magpies broke the deadlock early, before disappearing and conceding three goals for a much-deserved loss (1-3)
West Ham finally have a home to celebrate again.
After weeks of frustration and near misses, Nuno Espirito Santo's men produced a stirring comeback at the London Stadium, beating Newcastle 3-1 in front of a roaring East End crowd.
It didn't start well for the hosts. Jacob Murphy silenced the stands early on with a precise strike from the edge of the area - cruelly arriving just seconds after Jarrod Bowen had smacked the post at the other end.

But the Hammers didn't crumble. They fought. They pressed. And eventually, Lucas Paqueta's moment of brilliance brought them level - a fierce drive from distance that left Nick Pope rooted.
Then came the turning point: Aaron Wan-Bissaka's dangerous cross, Sven Botman's desperate lunge… and the ball in his own net! West Ham were ahead, deservedly.
VAR had earlier denied them a penalty - referee Robert Jones overturning his decision after replays showed Malick Thiaw nicked the ball before clipping Bowen - but this time, there was no taking it away from them.

In stoppage time, the London Stadium erupted again. Pope parried Bowen's shot, but Tomas Soucek was quickest to react, slotting in the rebound to seal the win and Nuno's first league triumph since taking charge in September.
For West Ham, it was passion rewarded. For Newcastle, another chapter in a miserable away run - seven months and counting without a Premier League victory on the road.
