Milan trash Juventus in Turin!

Bianconeri at the edge of missing Champions League football next year

In what could have been the 'battle for the Scudetto' if it was played in the middle of the season, we saw a fight for the Champions league spot. At Allianz Stadium in Turin, guests in red and black were better and deservedly came out victorious - final score 0-3.

Before the game, Juventus could boast with recording a strong seven-game Serie A form (W4, D2, L1)- regardless, they are still enduring their worst top-flight season since 2010/11 (7th place).

In the 4th minute already, Juve could have scored. It was a free kick from long range, intercepted by one of the defenders. Matthijs de Ligt was first to the rebound but his shot was blocked in the last second.

Milan gave the ball to the hosts and looked for their chance from counter-attacks. They tried in the 21st minute via Brahim Diaz - he shot the ball low towards the middle of the goal, Wojciech Szczesny was almost caught out but pulled off a brilliant save.

Juventus were at it again at the half hour mark - a corner kick found Giorgio Chiellini unmarked in the box with the goal at his mercy, but somehow he mistimed his header and sent it just wide of the right post.

In the 37th minute, Theo Hernandez took a shot at goal from inside the box, but it was blocked. Same player tried in the 44th minute but Szczesny made a brilliant save.

Milan were rewarded for their offensive approach as the first half came to a close. Diaz picked up the ball from a rebound and unleashed a shot into the top right corner.

Second half began with an attempt by the hosts to level the score. Rodrigo Bentancur received a short pass inside a congested penalty area and took a first-time shot. The effort headed towards the middle of the goal but Gianluigi Donnarumma blocked the shot with his legs.

Rossoneri wasted a huge opportunity to double their lead in the 58th minute. Ivorian Franck Kessie failed to beat Szczesny from the penalty spot with a shot into the bottom right corner - the Pole anticipated Kessie's intention perfectly.

The deflected penalty should have been a boost for the home team but they continued playing with little to no intensity.

In the 71st minute, Ante Rebic threaded a pass through the eye of a needle into the box for Hakan Calhanoglu, but Szczesny displayed great awareness and caught the ball before the Turk.

Rebic did not record an assist then but he managed to score a belter in the 78th minute. He collected a pass from Ismael Bennacer, then unleashed a fantastic long-range strike which went into the top right corner.

Just five minutes later, loanee from Chelsea, Fikayo Tomori, scored the third for Milan in this evening's awful performance from Andrea Pirlo's men.

Milan see themselves 3rd with 72 points, same as second-placed Atalanta. Juventus' abysmal season continues and they are still struggling to clinch next year's Champions League.
