Milan aims to defeat Bologna in the Coppa Italia final and take their best player

Experienced Bologna striker Riccardo Orsolini could leave the "Renato Dall'Ara" stadium at the end of the season after eight years and move to Milan, as the seven-time European champions have expressed interest in signing him this summer, according to "Tuttosport."

One of the best goal scorers in Serie A, Orsolini has proven himself in Italian football, but it’s only in recent seasons that he’s truly found his stride. He is set to finish this current season with double-digit goals.

Such a career development for a player in his prime has been more than enough for Milan to show interest in signing him. Interestingly, this comes less than three weeks before the Coppa Italia final.

In the battle for Italy’s second most important trophy, Orsolini will represent the biggest threat to rivals who could become his teammates as early as next summer. It’s no surprise, then, that Milan has used this opportunity to "test the waters" with Bologna ahead of the final.

With 12 league goals this season, the same tally as Inter’s captain Lautaro Martinez, Orsolini was also on Milan’s radar last winter, but Bologna rejected an offer worth 18 millions plus Okafor.

Given that the summer transfer market is usually more eventful than the winter one, it’s expected that Milan will increase their offer for the former Atalanta and Ascoli player, which could pressure Bologna to reconsider their stance on keeping their goal scorer.

However, the biggest obstacle to Milan’s ambitions to sign Orsolini is the fact that Bologna is currently in a much stronger position than the "Rossoneri" and it wouldn’t be surprising if they qualify for the Champions League again.

Milan will look for their path to international competition through the cup, and there’s no doubt that the finish of the season and the final on May 14 will determine which team Orsolini will join next.
