Michael Owino has heaped praise on head coach Francis Kimanzi after bagging his maiden goal for Wazito FC.
Michael Owino was a relieved man after scoring his maiden goal and the match-winner for Wazito FC in the 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz on Friday but credited his coach Francis Kimani after breaking his goal drought.
Owino commonly known by his moniker Wise had endured a barren spell since signing for Wazito from Kisumu AllStars before the start of the season with some fans calling for him to be dropped from the starting lineup.
The forward had a nightmare start to life at Wazito as he came on as a sub in the 0-0 draw against Posta Rangers and missed a guilt edge chance in the dying minutes of the game that would have seen them grab maximum points in the barren draw.
Former Harambee Stars head coach Francis Kimanzi however stuck to him and kept his faith in the forward as he trusted him with regular playing time which boosted his confidence.
"He always motivates me and demands more from me in each training session. He emphasized on the need to keep my focus and assured me that goals would soon come.
"His motivation has now paid off and I would really thank him for helping me settle in the club, I have learned a lot from him," said Owino.

Wazito has struggled with the center-forward position since letting Derrick Otanga and Agustine Otu leave before the start of the season with most of their goals coming from midfielders.
Owino, however, played down talk of Wazito lifting their first-ever Premier League title but noted that their run of five wins on the spin has been down to the hard work and not luck.
"What I can say is that it is still early, we are taking a game at a time but we are happy that we are in third place, we have been really working hard in training. The wins have not been a fluke we deserve them considering the shifts we have been putting in the training, so I cannot say that the wins are by luck," he added.
Wazito next takes on free-scoring Tusker on Saturday, February 6, a fixture that kicks off a tough run after which they face Gor Mahia and Mathare United.
