Lionel Messi has visited Saudi Arabia and made inquiries about things that clearly suggest he’s considering the country as his next destination — there’s definitely contact with the league

Lionel Messi’s contract with Inter Miami runs through the end of 2025 — but what happens after that? Or perhaps even before? According to transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri, the Argentine icon is already deep in discussions about a sensational switch to Saudi Arabia.

Could we witness another chapter in the Messi vs. Ronaldo saga? Tavolieri claims Messi would have the freedom to choose whichever Saudi club he wants. The main goal of league officials isn’t which team he joins — it’s simply to have the 2022 World Cup winner in their league.

The big four — Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr (Cristiano Ronaldo’s current team) — are all reportedly in play. Imagine the two legends, not battling on opposite sides, but wearing the same jersey. A true football bombshell.

Saudi Arabia already tried to sign Messi back in 2023, reportedly offering him an eye-watering 500–600 million euros for a two-year stint. He chose Inter Miami instead — but now the door might be swinging open again. Negotiations are said to be picking up speed.

Messi is allegedly in direct contact with Saudi Pro League officials, as well as Abdullah Hamad, the head of Riyadh’s Mahd Sports Academy. Interestingly, Ronaldo’s son is already training at the academy — and Messi is considering enrolling his own sons too. He has even visited Riyadh, checked out local homes and schools, and was reportedly quite impressed by what he saw.

Currently, Messi is competing with Inter Miami in the Club World Cup, where they face Paris Saint-Germain — his former club — in the round of 16 this Sunday. So far, he has tallied 50 goals and 24 assists in 62 matches for Miami. But according to multiple media sources, the magic may be fading. Messi is reportedly no longer fully content with life in the U.S.

Could the Saudi move happen sooner than expected — even right after the Club World Cup? If so, Inter Miami would likely demand a transfer fee for the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. The next chapter of Messi’s career might just be written in the Middle East.
