The former star of both Manchester clubs and the Argentina national team will reunite the two greatest footballers of all time

Former Manchester United and Manchester City player, as well as former Argentina international, Carlos Tevez, has sparked huge excitement by deciding to invite what many consider to be the two greatest footballers of all time — Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi — to his farewell match.

The former star of several major European clubs has chosen to invite both players to the game, which will take place at La Bombonera, in celebration of his incredible playing career that spanned nearly two decades.

Tevez played alongside Messi for an entire decade in the Argentina national team. Their first major tournament together was the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and they also featured at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, as well as in three editions of the Copa America — in 2007, 2011, and 2015.

On the other hand, his connection with Ronaldo comes from their time together at Manchester United, where they played side by side from 2007 to 2009. Along with Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, Tevez formed an incredible attacking trio for the Red Devils. Together, they achieved significant success at Old Trafford, including back-to-back Premier League titles, the Champions League title in 2008, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

In an interview, Tevez spoke about the players he intends to bring in for the match:

“Leo Messi, Cristiano… we’re going to bring them. I’ll go get them myself. I have them saved in my WhatsApp.”

Argentinian also mentioned other top-tier players he hopes will accept his invitation. Among them were Rooney, Edwin van der Sar, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra:

“Van der Sar on one side and Buffon on the other,” he said. “At center back, we’ll probably have Rio Ferdinand, Vidić… we’ll bring in Chiellini, Bonucci. Patrice Evra, my brother, he has to be there. Midfielders… Pirlo, Paul Scholes, Riquelme will definitely be there. Rooney.”
