After getting into the quarter-final in style, the former South African international is now focused on guiding Harambee Stars to the CHAN title.
Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy has exuded confidence in his team's tactical plan that will bring more joy to the Kenyan faithful.
Kenya is set to clash with Madagascar in the quarter-final of the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Friday, 22 August, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 1900 hrs.
Kenya qualified as Group A leaders, while Madagascar were second in Group B, where Tanzania finished as group leaders.
Ahead of the Friday evening clash, McCarthy, who is currently a fans’ favourite, assured the country that the team has a plan for the match.
“Tomorrow (Friday) is once again our turn to deliver and give fans a better part of history.
We have to have the perfect game plan and perfect execution to make Kenyans happy and progress further,” said McCarthy.
Madagascar, who won bronze in the last edition, have once again proven their ability to pull a surprise in the current edition, but McCarthy is confident of the research and analysis that he has done on his opponents.
“We have done our homework on our opponents and know their strengths and weaknesses. It will now depend on how well we prepare and how mentally ready our team will be,” he added.
After getting into the quarter-final in style, the former South African international is now focused on guiding Harambee Stars to the CHAN title.
“Our expectations are very high. We know exactly what we want to achieve, Madagascar will just be another obstacle to what we want to achieve,” he stated.
The former South African side AmaZulu FC head coach went further to disclose that only Harambee Stars stand between themselves and their ambitions.
“We will prepare as best as we can, falling short of what we want to achieve will only depend on us,” he concluded.
As McCarthy prepares his team, FKF have also appealed to CAF to lift the 60% capacity regulation on Kenya after the federation and the government successfully contained supporters in the 1-0 victory over Zambia.
