The Frenchman received his well-deserved award yesterday and followed in the footsteps of Hugo Sanchez and Cristiano Ronaldo
Yesterday was a big day in Madrid - Kylian Mbappe received his Golden Boot award for the 2024/2025 season. Having scored 31 La Liga goals in the previous campaign, the Frenchman earned more points than the closest rivals, Viktor Gyokeres and Mohamed Salah, and won the accolade presented by the organization Europan Sports Media (ESM).
This was Mbappe's first Golden Boot award, and this way, he continued the tradition of Real Madrid players winning it, as Hugo Sanchez shared it with Hristo Stoichkov in the 1989/1990 season, and Cristiano Ronaldo won it as many as three times wearing Los Blancos' jersey in 2010/2011, 2013/2014 (shared it with Luis Suarez), and 2014/2015 campaigns.

"It's a pleasure for me to win the Golden Boot. It's an important moment for me, the first time I win this prize. It means a lot to me as a forward," Mbappe said at the ceremony at Santiago Bernabeu via ESPN.
He went on to thank his teammates, without whose help he wouldn't have made it.
"We have an incredible group. I hope we'll keep going as a team, as I say the team is the most important thing."
"Without these players it's impossible to win these prizes. I know that. I want to thank the club, the doctors, the staff, who help me on and off the pitch," the striker stated.
At the same time, he became the first Frenchman since Thierry Henry (who won back-to-back Golden Boot awards in the 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 seasons) to win the prestigious accolade. Moreover, the two are the only players in French football history to achieve such a feat.
However, Mbappe won't have much time to celebrate, as Real Madrid continue their La Liga title pursuit against Valencia tonight (23.00) and the 26-year-old will have a chance to improve his goal-scoring tally further. With 11 league goals in ten appearances, he's among the favourites to win the Golden Boot award this season as well.
