Munro passed away on Sunday 19 January at his residence in Westlands after a long battle with respiratory problems that saw him in and out of hospital, especially for the last six months, the family announced through his wife, Ingrid Munro.

While family, friends and leaders continue to visit his Westlands residence to console the family, the comprehensive program kicks off on Friday 24 January where a fundraising drive has been organized from 1700 hrs to 2000 hrs at the United Kenya Club.

Munro's great impact was in the Eastlands through MYSA and a procession and candle lighting has been organized on Saturday 25 January from 0900 hrs to 1900 hrs.

The procession will start at Lee Funeral Home where his body lies and culminate at MYSA headquarters in Komarock.

Munro will be cremated at the Kariokor Cemetery as per his wishes on Tuesday 28 January in a ceremony that will be attended by his close family and friends from 1000 hrs to 1100 hrs.

The ashes of the Canadian will then be sprinkled at Karura Forest and MYSA headquarters at a date that will be communicated later.

Munro has left an indelible mark in Kenyan football through MYSA which has provided an avenue for the development of upcoming footballers in Nairobi and Mathare United that continues to make it possible for footballers to achieve their Kenyan top-flight dream.

For their top-flight struggles, Mathare United won the FKF Premier League in 2008 with a squad dominantly composed of local players.
