Kenyan international Patrick Matasi was lucky to escape alive following a grizzly car accident at Lessos along the Kapsabet-Nakuru road on Tuesday 1 June.

The accident occurred in the afternoon after a car in which he was travelling in with his family suffered a tyre burst before rolling on the side of the road.

Matasi’s relative Albert Mulanda revealed that the former Tusker FC and AFC Leopards custodian was on transit with his family before the accident.

“The car lost control and developed a tyre burst then rolled over. Matasi was with his family and two brothers-in-law and currently, the doctor is running some scans on him because he is complaining of chest pains,”

“Matasi is complaining of chest pains and shoulders. After the results, then we will be able to know what next step that will follow,” Mulanda told Citizen TV.

Mulanda noted that Matasi’s wife and children who were in the car also suffered injuries in the crash but the extent of their injuries are yet to be established.

According to reports, Matasi was on his way to Nairobi from Kakamega before the accident happened at Lessos.

The Harambee Stars custodian recently jetted back into the country after the Ethiopian Premier League drew its curtains last week with his side St. George finishing third.
