According to rumours, the Spanish veteran is close to returning to Mestalla, where the Uruguayan landed a couple of days ago

Four years Juan Mata spent with Valencia, from 2007 to 2011, launched this versatile attacking midfielder into football stardom. He instantly attracted the attention of many European powerhouses and decided to join Chelsea. After three more years at Stamford Bridge, he moved to Old Trafford and ever since has been an integral part of Manchester United's offensive line.

However, in the last two seasons, we haven't seen much of the Spanish veteran in action, as Solskjaer, Rangnick, and now Ten Hag opted for some other solutions.

The time has come now for the 34-year-old to move on, and there's no better place for the days near retirement than back home - at Valencia.

As per Cadena COPE, some 48 hours ago, Juan Mata's father received a call from Valencia FC to inform him that if there's any possibility, they would consider signing him on a permanent deal. This means Mata could eventually reunite with his former Manchester United teammate Edinson Cavani. Huh, that would be some nasty attacking partnership! There are a few hours until closing...
