Harambee Stars striker, Masud Juma, has provided an update on his recovery, two months since suffering an Achilles tendon rupture - an injury that is set to keep him out of action for a couple more months.
Masud picked up the injury during a league assignment in Saudi Arabia and has since missed a significant portion of club football this campaign.
The attacker, who plays for Al Jabalain in the Saudi Arabian second-tier, had to undergo surgery in January to repair his tendon, and the last two months have been dedicated to his recovery.
He has now taken to social media to share an update on his journey, stating that he is now able to walk again, marking an important milestone in his healing process.
"It's a special day for me as I walk again 60 days after my surgery. The journey has now begun. It's a tough one, but I am sure I will be up to it. Thank you all for your prayers and support. I am humbled,” read his post.
Masud has been a mainstay in the Harambee Stars’ squad in recent years, often starting up front alongside captain Michael Olunga in the majority of games. The criticism he faced years ago when he was still new to the national team has since faded, and fans have embraced him. He has been part of the Stars' setup for the last seven years.
The injury forced the striker to miss the four-nation tournament in Malawi, which Kenya won after beating Zimbabwe in the final. For him, it is now a race against time to be fit for the World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and the African Champions, Ivory Coast, which will be played at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In his absence, John Avire was called back to the national team after nearly five years on the sidelines. Additionally, Jonah Ayunga, based in Scotland, earned his debut minutes wearing the Kenyan colors.
