Masinza was recalled from his loan spell at Vihiga Bullets but has been struggling to break into the starting squad
Kakamega Homeboyz winger Enock Masinza is working his socks off in training in a bid to improve the areas coach Patrick Odhiambo has advised him to work on.
The highly-rated winger who can also slot in at left back hasn’t been getting regular playing time this season due to the competition from his seniors.
However, he believes that he stands a good chance of getting minutes as the season progresses if he works on his shortcomings.
He revealed that Odhiambo had advised him to improve his defensive attributes as well as speed so as to be assured of more game time.
Masinza, a younger brother to the club’s forward Christopher has previously earned himself praises for his eye for goal, electric runs on the wing and quality crosses.
“Luckily, the coach was kind enough to highlight my weak areas which I am trying my best to polish. He wants me to defend better and work on my speed. He is apparently happy with how I conduct my offensive duties,” he said.
Masinza, was recalled from his loan spell with Vihiga Bullets in last season’s mid-season transfer window after impressing while playing for the relegated side.
The former Green Commandos player says he is doing his best to rediscover the form that triggered Homeboyz to recall him.
“I am trying my best to break to the first time. I always give my best in training as one has to earn the slot in the team. Honestly it is not easy considering the depth we have,” he stated.
Homeboyz who are the Mozzart Bet Cup defending champions have won two of the opening six league fixtures of the season.
Masinza believes that the team will recover from the slow start and contest for the title.
