Man United's class - setting standards even during the deepest crisis

Following this week's Champions League and Europa League matches, the Red Devils remain the only unbeaten club among the 72 sides that entered the two competitions

Manchester United are experiencing the greatest crisis in the last 30 years, whose end is not on the horizon. They are out of both the EFL and FA Cup, while being closer to the relegation battle than the leading positions in the Premier League. Yet, their participation in the UEFA Europa League is a silver lining.

Namely, the Red Devils have advanced to the competition's Round of 16 - where they drew against Real Sociedad in the first leg in Spain - and thus managed to earn a remarkable achievement, remaining the only unbeaten team in the Champions League and Europa League.

Seventy-two sides entered the races in two European competitions, and Ruben Amorim's crew remained the only undefeated. United ended the UEL league phase with five victories (over PAOK, Bodo/Glimt, Viktoria Plzen, Rangers, and FCSB) and three draws (against Twente, Porto, and Fenerbahce). After taking third spot, they qualified directly for the Round of 16, where Real Sociedad awaited them.

Following the 1-1 draw in San Sebastian, Amorim's men have an excellent chance to secure the quarter-finals in the return leg and schedule the duel against (probably) Lyon, as well as prolong their unbeaten European run.
