Man City's Jupiter: Pep forbids players to gain weight and then does it himself

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 27.12.25. | 10:33

Days after announcing that those who put on weight during the holidays won't travel to Nottingham to face Forest, Guardiola appeared at Etihad with a few extra kilos

In a football club, rules are rules, and they are the same for everyone. Unless you're the one who sets them. Then, you're above them. Just like Pep Guardiola.

Jokes aside, the Manchester City boss had announced he'd weigh his players once they return from a short Christmas break and had threatened penalties for those who put on weight.

"Imagine one player and now he's perfect but he will arrive with three kilos more. He will be in Manchester, he will not travel to Nottingham Forest," the Spaniard had said on Monday via BBC.

The D-Day for the players came yesterday, but they passed Pep's exam without a hitch.

"They have been incredibly disciplined since 10 years ago," he said, clearly satisfied before revealing a harsh truth...

"I earn four or five kilos more for the amount of food and drinks that I have drunk, so it is really good," Guardiola admitted via ESPN.

Many jokingly wondered if the tactician would punish himself and not travel to Nottingham to lead his crew against Forest today (15.30), but let's be honest, the Cityzens would hardly have a chance to achieve everything they had over the years without the brilliant Spaniard.

In the end, the old Latins had a quote that perfectly sums up the situation at Etihad.

Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi, they said, which means "What is permissable for Jupiter is not permissable for a cow."

Not that anyone compares City's players to cows, God forbid, but the same set of rules cannot be applied to them and to Pep. That's why he's the boss.
