Man City turn it around against Dortmund to see themselves in the Champions League semi-finals

Guardiola's men win 1-2 at Signal Iduna Park and wave goodbye to Haaland & Co
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Borussia Dortmund were in a "must-win" mode, preferably without conceding. The guests from Manchester, aiming for a first European trophy in over half a century, were in pole position to reach their second Champions League semi-final in five years. Eventually they succeeded by defeating Borussia Dortmund 1-2 in a great match.
Borussia Dortmund were the ones chasing after Man City and the match opened up accordingly. Possession was split but Dortmund showed more determination to approach Ederson's territory.
After quarter of an hour the Millionaires took the deserved lead. City have been playing with the handbrake on. Haaland held the ball and sent it back into the goal area. It deflected off Dias into the path of Bellingham, who curled a fantastic strike towards the top corner. Reach of Ederson was just not enough.
Jude Bellingham is the youngest ever English scorer in the Champions League, breaking Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's record (18y 44d in 2011) and the second-youngest player to score in a UEFA Champions League knockout game, after Bojan Krkic for Barcelona against Schalke in April 2008 (17y 217d).
The conceded goal woke up the Citizens. In the 26th minute De Bruyne won the ball off a high press and his controlled yet thumping effort smacked the woodwork. Hitz was nowhere near it so Bernardo Silva came charging in on the rebound with a diving header but his effort sailed wide of the post.
De Bruyne kept pushing for City. Shots from distance, crosses inside Dortmund's goal box, as always with Guardiola's squad, the Belgian was the engine driving the team forward. Unfortunately for him, rest of the team were not intense enough.
Borussia gave the ball over to the visitors and focused on defending. Erling Haaland had only had few touches in the first half-hour but his impressive movement and physicality in the build-up to Dortmund's opener: a great curved run to meet the ball over the top and supreme strength to shake off Stones.
In the 38th minute, City were at it again from a set piece. A deep cross was headed back by Dias and Stones flicked one towards goal. Zinchenko was the man with the final headed chance from close range but his looped header didn't test Hitz.
Ten minutes after second half began, it was 1-1. After a VAR check Man City got themselves a penalty - Emre Can's handbal annulled the lead Dortmund had as Riyad Mahrez executed the penalty in a perfect way.
Riyad Mahrez's penalty ended a run of 14 appearances without scoring in the UEFA Champions League for Manchester City, with this being his first goal in the competition since September 2019 v Shakhtar Donetsk.
Just before the 60th minute, City were close to turning it around completely. Rodri saw his header crash off the crossbar after meeting a corner kick inside the goal box. Hitz stood and watched helpless.
Huge opportunity for the hosts in the 68th minute as the old school Borussia connection almost brought the lead back. Mats Hummels latched onto the free kick from Marco Reus, but the sweeper sent the ball just over the bar from close range.
Eventually, City were just too much for the German side. In the 75th minute Kevin De Bruyne's shot forced Hitz to push it out into a corner. Out of a short played corner kick - an incredible goal from Phil Foden! Foden didn't hesitate to lash home from outside the box. He hit the ball precisely into the bottom right corner and it nestles in the net after touching the foot of the post.
Phil Foden is only the second player aged younger than 21 to score in both legs of a Champions League quarter-final tie, after Kylian Mbappe in 2016/17 for Monaco against - guess who - Borussia Dortmund (18).
After Foden scored, it was smooth sailing for the Citizens. Few attempts from Dortmund to bring the game to a tie were not precise and Haaland and his teammates had to face the fact their European journey is over.
Pep Guardiola has reached his eighth Champions League semi-final, now the joint-most in the history of the competition, alongside José Mourinho.
After tonight's games, Manchester CIty will be meeting Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals while Real Madrid, who defeated Liverpool at Anfield, will face Chelsea.
Semi-final opening ties will be played on the 27th and 28th of April while second legs will occur on the 4th and 5th of May.
