Man called “Loan Deal” – Kolo Muani at Tottenham

Juventus and PSG were negotiating over the striker, but in the end they couldn’t reach an agreement, and that’s when Tottenham stepped into the picture

Randal Kolo Muani waited all summer for PSG and Juventus to agree on a new loan or transfer, but the Italian club failed to put together the financial package for the 60 million euros fee and eventually turned to Lois Openda from Leipzig instead.

Tottenham, however, succeeded. Spurs secured a loan deal for the French striker until the end of the season, without a purchase option—just as was the case with Kolo Muani’s winter loan move to Juventus.

From traditional center-forwards, Tottenham only had Richarlison available and were looking for attackers of a different profile, such as Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Savinho (Manchester City), or Yoane Wissa (Brentford), but in the end they went for Kolo Muani.

For this dry loan, PSG will not receive a fee, and in the summer negotiations will follow about a possible continuation of the cooperation if the Frenchman impresses. Not long ago, his compatriot Mathys Tel also arrived on loan and was bought this summer, but Tottenham had to pay 10 million euros for his loan and then cash out another 35 million euros.

The London club also committed to paying the striker’s full salary until the end of the season—8 million euros net, which with taxes amounts to around 15 million euros. Since PSG already covered his wages for July and August, Tottenham’s cost will be around 13 million euros. In total, 18 million euros until the end of the season when counting the loan fee as well.

Kolo Muani was also considered by Bayern Munich today after their deal for Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea collapsed, but the Bavarians were too late, as Tottenham had already finalized everything by the time they came in with concrete proposals. Thus, Thomas Frank’s wish was fulfilled.

“I know what the coach expects from me. I will fight hard for the shirt, the club, and the fans. I’ll give everything for this team,” said Randal Kolo Muani, who will wear the number 39 shirt. Coach Thomas Frank emphasized where he should be of greatest help to Tottenham:

“He’s in the prime years of his career, he has qualities that suit us and the demands of the Premier League. He gives us different options in the final third of the pitch, because he can stretch the play but also attack through the middle.”

Kolo Muani joined PSG two years ago from Eintracht for 95 million euros, but was later discarded by coach Luis Enrique.
