On Sunday afternoon, the CAF Women’s Champions League will set the stage for what is expected to be a thrilling finale between former champions Mamelodi Sundowns and debutants Sporting Club Casablanca in Korhogo, Cote d’Ivoire.

The final of Africa’s premium women’s football club competition will kick off at 8 p.m. EAT with both teams keen on lifting the trophy that comes with substantial prize money and bragging rights.

The match will be live on several TV stations globally, including beIN Sport, Canal+, SABC, AZAM, and SNRT, amongst others. The live-action will also be on CAF TV (YouTube page) globally.

The CAF Women’s Champions League, now in its third edition, has been one of the success stories for CAF’s women’s football development in Africa.

The winner of the event will pocket USD 400, 000, while the runners-up will take home USD 250, 000.

Mamelodi Sundowns have appeared in all the finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2022. They won the inaugural event in 2021 and finished second in 2022 after losing to another Moroccan side, ASFAR.

Sporting Club Casablanca, on the other side, are appearing in their first final. They advanced to the final after eliminating Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Both teams are confident ahead of the final.

“That final remains a bad memory. I received a red card and left my sisters alone on the field. I wasn't proud of myself. Today, we are in a different spirit. This stadium welcomed us so well that we want to repay the spectators with a great performance”, Sundowns defender Zanele Nhlapho who saw red during last year's final said.

“A final is not played, it is won. We have done a huge amount of work to get to this point. Of course, they are used to being at this level. We are the competitors. We are not going to play the final to show our participation. We are not going to come face to face with them. We want this trophy”, said SC Casablanca star, Chaimaa Kriem.
