Mainoo's brother slams United and Amorim with a powerful three-word message

While Kobbie struggles with playing time at Old Trafford, his older half-brother Jordan appeared at last night's game against Bournemouth, wearing a controversial T-shirt

Kobbie Mainoo's days at Old Trafford seem numbered, and even Ruben Amorim isn't trying to hide it. The 20-year-old did clock around 40 minutes in a 4-4 draw against Bournemouth last night, but hasn't started a single Premier League match this season, spending just 212 minutes on the pitch.

Even the fact that Napoli are knocking on the midfielder's door - and all that after they "stole" Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund from the Red Devils and revived them - didn't change the Portuguese gaffer's mind, nor did United legends, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt's comments.

Amorim compared Mainoo to other club's prospects such as Chido Obi, Toby Collyer, and Harry Amass, claiming that "sometimes he has to make choices", and sent a clear signal that he was in charge and that nothing (or no one) would affect his decisions.

"In the end it's going to be the training, the games. Of course. he's not playing so many games, but Kobbie has had opportunities, especially last year. Everyone has."

"Amass is now struggling in Championship. Chido is not always a starter in the under 21s. All these guys played when a lot of people were saying: 'Sack the manager'. So, you can see that I'm not worried," he stated via BBC.

And as in "Newton's Third Law of Motion", the tactician's action caused an equal and opposite reaction. Only, it didn't come from the player himself, but from his older half-brother Jordan Mainoo-Hames.

The star of a reality show, Love Island, appeared at the game last night, wearing a rather controversial T-shirt with a short, but powerful three-word message in all caps: "FREE KOBBIE MAINOO."

Neither the player nor the club reacted, as expected, but Jordan's move was enough to cause a stir in public, reminding everyone that the midfielder's case is still unresolved, while he is "rotting" on the bench.

In the end, one would think United would know better after losing McTominay, the reigning Serie A MVP, and Hojlund, the Neapolitans' leading scorer in the current campaign, but nothing came of it.

Perhaps Mainoo's situation will teach them a lesson the hard way.
