Mandela and Okumu's sides picked up emphatic wins while Maina suffered humiliation at the hands of RB Leipzig.

Linton Maina

The Kenyan midfielder was handed another start as Hannover 96 fell 4-0 to German outfit, RB Leipzig, in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal.

A brace in the opening minutes of the tie from Christopher Nkunku ensured that Hannover who are in the 2.Bundesliga faced an uphill battle to progress to the semi-final.

Second-half goals from Konrad Laimer and Andre Silva in the 67th and 73rd minutes sealed the tie for RB Leipzig as they look to bag their second successive place in the final after losing to Dortmund last time out.

Maina was rested in the 73rd minute as Lawrence Ennali was thrown into the fray with Hannover looking to preserve their big guns as they bid to return to the Bundesliga.

Brian Mandela

Kenyan international Brian Mandela clocked his seventh consecutive 90 minutes for Mamelodi Sundowns in the 3-0 drabbing of 10-man TS Galaxy in the South African Premier Soccer League.

Sundowns needed only 19-minutes to break the deadlock through Khuliso Mudau who rifled the ball into the back of the net from outside the 18-yard area.

TS Galaxy midfielder Lindokuhle Mbatha was sent for an early shower in the 22nd minute when he clipped Peter Shalulile with his reckless sliding tackle.

Sundowns made their man advantage count in the second half with goals from Haashim Domingo and Shalulile to extend their lead at the summit of the log to 18 points.

Joseph Okumu

Former Chemelil Sugar defender Joseph Okumu finally clocked 90 minutes after his return from a short spell on the sidelines to help his KAA Gent side bag a clean sheet in the 3-0 thrashing of Belgian giants Club Brugge.

With the referee’s whistle still sounding in the stadium Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe opened the scoring for Gent in the second minute as Alessio Castro-Montes doubled their lead in the 35th minute.

Dennis Odoi was handed his marching orders in the 53rd minute for a second bookable offence with Gent assuring their win a minute later through Laurent Depoitre.
