It was a magnificent piece of skill from the Monaco skipper as Monaco put three goals past Paris
There is a misconception that Paris Saint-Germain is one of the best teams in the world. This lie is a product of media attention and the big-sounding names you can see on their team sheet week in, week out. But despite all the quality and talent their players possess - the team called PSG is nowhere near as good as they want to be. Monaco brought them back to Earth by beating them 3-0 on Sunday.
Although they are Ligue 1's top-placed team, it's hardly a benchmark for true greatness. Their chance to prove their quality was in the Champions League against Real Madrid. It was an exam they failed miserably.
The arrogant Parisians were reminded that quality isn't their exclusive right, but there is plenty of it to go around. Monaco captain Wissam Ben Yedder scored a magical goal to give his team the lead over PSG 25 minutes into the game at Stade Louis II. And it wasn't against the run of play, either. Monaco were the better team and deserved the lead thoroughly.
With the ball coming from the right-hand side into the area, Ben Yedder nipped in front of his marker and steered the ball past Gianluigi Donnaruma with the outside of his left boot. Sublime touch!
Parisian attacks were feeble and it was the red and whites who punished the visitors with two more goals, including a Ben Yedder penalty to complete the rout and give manager Mauricio Pochettino a lot to thing about.
