Mexican side stood no chance against the current European champions

Kylian Mbappe had anything but pleasant memories of Lusail Stadium in Doha, where he lost the 2022 FIFA World Cup final to Lionel Messi's Argentina.

However, after Wednesday night, he'll definitely remember it with much more sympathy as he netted the opener in Real Madrid's 3-0 Intercontinental Cup final triumph against Pachuca.

After beating Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup in August, Los Blancos have won their second trophy of the 2024-25 season. It took them 37 minutes to open the scoring against the Mexican champion, but it was a lovely opener, indeed. A wonderful team effort saw Vinicius Junior dashing into the box, and going around the goalkeeper before finding Mbappe in the box to score.

Eight minutes into the second half, Rodrygo doubled the lead. The Brazilian winger managed to fire into the far corner in style, making it impossible for Pachuca to come from two goals down.

Late on, Vinicius added the third from the spot as Lucas Vazquez was fouled. That sealed a comfortable win for Los Blancos, with five more trophies still to be targeted by Carlo Ancelotti's side in this campaign.
