The club kicked off life in the National Super League with a 1-0 win over Darajani Gogo
Rainbow head coach Erick Macharia was left pleased with the performance of a number of his players in the opening match of the 2023-2024 National Super League season.
The league newcomers registered a slim 1-0 win over Darajani Gogo last Saturday at the Kasarani Annex where Tyrone Kariuki scored the winning goal.
Macharia singled out a number of players for putting in their best in the game and winning the three points in the day they debuted in the second tier.
The tactician said Kariuki, Tom Wainaina, Tevin Omutere and goalkeeper Paul Odhiambo left everything on the pitch, with their performance playing a role in delivering the three points.
Both Omutere and Wainaina joined the club in the last transfer window from Ruiru Hotstars and Murang'a Seal respectively.
"We didn't play well but I am happy with the win. I must commend the boys for putting in a shift throughout to see us get three points. Our goalkeeper was the man of the match while some in field players were simply outstanding," said Macharia.
With Rainbow set to face SS Assad this weekend in Ukunda, Macharia said there were areas he was seeking to polish before hitting the road down to the coast.
The gaffer admitted that the coast was not a favorable place to hunt for points but remained adamant that it was possible to get maximum points with good preparations.
"We are working hard to polish some areas that we were short in the first game. You can't risk going to Ukunda when you're I'll-prepared," added Macharia.
Assad held MCF to a 2-2 draw in their first game of the season played at the Machakos Stadium last weekend.
