The former FC Talanta midfielder has featuring sparingly for Gor this season due to injuries

After close to four months on the sidelines, Gor Mahia midfielder John Macharia was delighted to return to action in the 1-0 win over KCB on Saturday.

The 23-year-old suffered an ankle injury in a friendly early this year and has been on the treatment table since with the injury being a niggly one as he returned to training back in February.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Macharia was elated after making a return from injury and getting a victory in his first game since suffering the setback as he vowed to continue working to return to the first 11.

"It is a good feeling to get back to the pitch since suffering an injury, it was an unexpected because I got it in a friendly match and coming back to get a win is morale boosting. I now want to work hard and return to the first 11 and show the coaches that I deserve it. Staying out has been tough because you also feel the pressure when you lose," said Macharia.

The former Guria midfielder came on in the 62nd minute for Boniface Omondi with the substitutions turning the tide in their favour as they went on to grab the winner in the 76th minute through Benson Omala.

Having watched much of the action from the bench, Macharia admitted that the first half was evenly balanced and emphasized on the importance of grabbing a win.

"The first half was tight because they lost the last game and we also lost which made it tight, but the substitutions changed the game and we got the much needed three points. Getting a win in the league now is important because we are not behind by many points and in football you never know, anything can happen," added Macharia.
