Sevilla are looking like a lethal team once more! Los Nervionenses hammered Almeria 5-1 on Tuesday night in a display of free-flowing football.

Head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar was facing significant pressure, so a fast start in this Andalusian derby was crucial for the home team. Sevilla delivered a rapid start, indeed. Only seven minutes into the game, Loic Bade's header hit the crossbar, and Youssef En-Nesyri reacted quickly to score and put Sevilla in the lead. Less than a minute later, Mendilibar was left stunned as recent signing from Hertha Berlin Dodi Lukebakio manoeuvred into the penalty area and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner, doubling Sevilla's advantage.

It appeared that Sevilla would score a third goal soon, and if it weren't for an incredible save by Luís Maximiano, they would have done so. Maximiano made a stunning save to deny a spectacular attempt by Lukebakio. However, shortly after that, Almeria's goalkeeper couldn't stop Suso from bending a magnificent shot into the far corner, effectively sealing the game's fate even before halftime.

In the second half, it seemed like Almería couldn't possibly fare worse than they did in the first half. However, they conceded a fourth goal just six minutes after the restart. As Almería tried to find a way back into the match, they were caught on the counter-attack. Pedrosa squared the ball for Erik Lamela to tap it into the net. However, it might be subject to review by the dubious goals panel to determine whether it's credited as Lamela's goal or an Edgar Gonzalez's own goal. Almería did manage to pull one back, as a consolation, 20 minutes from time when Luis Suarez converted a penalty after Jesús Navas fouled Largie Ramazani in the area. But nothing could spoil Mendlilibar's night as his team moved into 11th in the league.
