Genoa couldn’t find a way to stop Romelu Lukaku who scored and early goal and provided an assist that put Internazionale firmly on course to another Serie A success
Antonio Conte and his black and blues have had a fine weekend. Not only they saw one of their title rivals Juventus drop points against Hellas Verona on Saturday, but have also made sure they do their part in cementing the top spot in the table.
Inter couldn’t have wished for a better start to the match. Romelu Lukaku thundered down the pitch, evaded all defenders and slammed the ball into the far bottom corner to make it 1-0. It was clear that last weekend’s huge derby win over AC Milan gave extra confidence to Inter, who looked confident on the ball and controlled the play with authority that will surely please their boss Conte.
Genoa tried their best to get back into the match after the break and they even enjoyed more of the ball possession, but for all their efforts, they were killed off by Inter’s experience and quality in the final stages of the game. Matteo Darmian, who deputized for the Nereazzuri star right back Achraf Hakim, had an easy task to score from just inside the box after a smart pass of Lukaku, who’d drawn most defenders out of position. It was 2-0 with 20 minutes to go and the points were effectively on the board for the home side.
There was still time for former Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez to get his name on the scoresheet as the beat the offside trap to score a rare headed goal and delight Inter fans in a 3-0 win.

Inter now have seven points ahead of their second-placed rivals AC Milan, albeit with a match more played. Tonight the lead might be again reduced to four points, but the pressure is firmly on the Rossoneri now and Lukaku and friends revel in another professional and convincing win.
