Loyalty above all: Caicedo agrees to extend deal with Chelsea

The Blues are set to tie one of their "warriors" until 2033

In 2023, when Chelsea broke the then-British record and brought in Moises Caicedo from Brighton for £115 million, many were skeptical of whether the Ecuadorian was indeed worth such a lavish sum.

Three years later, people would still clash in their opinions on that question, but the Blues seem more than satisfied with the Ecuadorian. In fact, they are so delighted that they have reportedly agreed to extend his deal.

According to the BBC, the London side will thus tie their "warrior" until 2033, as his current contract was to expire two years earlier.

Caicedo has been one of the Blues' key players during Enzo Maresca's stint on the bench, starting every Premier League match last season. The midfielder maintained the same role after Liam Rosenior arrived and is one of the team's captains.

The midfielder is the second crucial player to extend his deal with the club, as Reece James did a month ago. The BBC claims Chelsea also plan to tie Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill in the imminent future, though the Argentinian's recent suspension may have changed his status.

Since joining the Blues, Caicedo has made 140 appearances, scored eight goals, and provided 11 assists. He won two trophies with the London side, becoming the FIFA Club World Champion and the UEFA Conference League winner.

This way, the club showed how much they believed in him, while he proved his loyalty. Now, it's time to focus solely on the pitch.
