Dispirited, pale, horrible. Those are the perfect words to describe AC Milan's contemporary form and losing streak that has reached shocking three defeats in a row, with the latest being especially critical.
Rossoneri lost 1-0 in a clash with their city rivals Inter Milan on Sunday night amid another woeful performance.
The defending champions - who are 18 points adrift of league leaders Napoli - have dropped to sixth place, distancing themselves from the Champions League spots.

Milan are looking deplorable after the World Cup break, struggling to recreate at least a glimpse of their earlier composure and style. They failed to make the necessary U-turn, at least against the archrivals, that should have motivated them to rise above the current severe crisis. Instead, Stefano Pioli's team put on another forgettable performance, thus letting Inter get away with all three points despite their barely decent display.

Derby della Madonnina's decisive moment happened some 30 minutes into the match, following a corner kick from the left. Experienced and clever, Lautaro Martinez ran away from his guards to the near post for an unstoppable header.

Although it seemed Nerazzurri could make the most of this sudden lead, Simone Iznaghi's squad slowed down and tried keeping that 1-0 on the scoreline until the end.
Even though Giroud and Rafael Leao did make a tad bit of a mess in the opposite box in the second half, Onana managed to keep a clean sheet and save his side's deserved victory.
Inter are sitting in second place at the moment, three points clear of the third-place AS Roma, but also 13 points behind the table-toppers Napoli.
