Liverpool will not let this go that easy

The team from Anfield issued an official statement regarding the derby against Tottenham (1-2)

"I have never seen anything like this, such an unfair game in my life. And I've never been more proud of my team. There were so many crazy decisions. Offside? No chance! They drew the lines badly. We saw that clearly at halftime. This will be talked about for days, it is not easy to diggest" - was the first reaction of Reds coach Jurgen Klopp after the defeat against Tottenham in the controversial match in London and the first defeat of the season (1-2) with the Reds also having two players less on the pitch at the full-time whistle.

The most controversial issue was the referees and the VAR room failing to recognize the goal of Colombian Luis Diaz while the result was still 0-0. The goal was disallowed due to signaling by the assistant referee. After the VAR review, the decision remained, although no lines were drawn, which immediately raised doubts. In such situations, when millimeters decide, the rule is that this should be the case. It remains unclear why that didn't happen on Saturday night.

In the end, it turned out that there was a mistake, which was acknowledged a day later. Liverpool have been defeated, they are moving on, but at Anfield they don't want to get over this mistake too easily. They announced a further fight, although without specifically specifying further steps.

The Anfield club issued a statement on Sunday evening.

"Liverpool Football Club acknowledges PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night. It is clear that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined.

"We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under but these pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR.

"It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention.

"That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency.

"This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again.

"In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution."

From this statement, it remains unclear what Liverpool's next moves are, but there is no doubt that the result cannot be changed.
