The CAF Awards 2022 will be held on 21 July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco.

African football governing body, CAF has announced its nominees for the women’s categories of the 2022 CAF Awards with Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala headlining the list.

Oshoala will be looking to defend her African Women's Footballer of the Year gong she won back in 2019 when the awards were last held after earning another nomination in the category.

After being named by CAF in a nominee list of 30 in the African Women's Footballer of the Year, Oshoala will face stern competition from South African Refiloe Jane who plies her trade in AC Milan, Atletico Madrid’s Thembi Kgatlana, and Rasheedat Ajibade from the Spanish club.

Having won the award back in 2019 for the fourth time - a joint record she holds with Super Falcons legend, Perpetua Nkwocha who hung her boots back in 2014, Oshoala will be looking to make history.

Following an inaugural CAF Women Champions League, reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa will battle it out against Nigeria's Rivers Angels, Ghana’s S.Hasaacas, AS FAR of Morocco, Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea, Egypt’s Wadi Degla, and AS Mande of Mali in the Women’s Club of the Year award.

In the Young Player of the Year, the CECAFA region will be represented by Burundi’s Rukiya Bizimana, Ethiopia’s Rediet Assresahagn, Fauzia Najemba from Uganda and Tanzania’s Clara Luvanga, Evelyn Badu, Doris Boaduwaa, Yasmine Zouhir, Gift Monday, Flourish Sebastine, Hapsatou Diallo.

In the Interclub Player of the Year Mamelodi Sundowns players dominate the nominee’s list with Andile Dlamini, Bambanani Mbane, Zanele Nhlapho, and Andisiwe Mgcoyi all included.
