Although he's the son of one of the best players Africa has ever had, and despite his youth days at Chelsea's academy, Isaac Drogba's career is in sharp decline
On one side, there's the father, Didier Drogba - the man whose career kept moving upward. From his humble beginnings at Le Mans and Guingamp, over his maiden Champions League final with Olympique Marseille, to the best days of his career with Chelsea.
The highly regarded striker won 14 trophies with the Blues, including four Premier League titles and the 2012 UCL, becoming a genuine football icon.
At the same time, his generation was the best Ivorian football has ever had, playing in two Africa Cup of Nations finals and participating in three consecutive FIFA World Cups. The list of Drogba's individual accolades is too long to mention in full.
On the other hand, there's the son, also a striker, Isaac Drogba. The lad who started his career in Chelsea's renowned academy, and whose career has paradoxically been in sharp decline. It's even fair to say that his days in London were the peak of his football life.
Upon leaving the Blues, Isaac played for French Guingamp's youth categories and B team, the Italian fourth-tier side Caratese, the B team of the Portuguese third-division club Academica, and La Louviere in the third rank of Belgian football.

Now, at the age of 25, Drogba Jr is set to join the Armenian second-flight club FC Hayq, Sportaran reports.
This team is currently fourth in the league, fighting for promotion. Two days ago, Hayq beat Bentonit 1-0 at home, with Isaac watching from the stands, hinting that the deal between him and the club has been struck, though it has not been officially announced.
Perhaps this spell in the former Soviet republic will help Drogba Jr get his career back on track. So far, he wasn't even close to meeting the expectations, especially with his football roots and background in mind.
