The legendary Spaniard has the possibility of a return to France as one of his options

According to reports from France, Sergio Ramos (39), the legendary Spanish defender, is in talks with Nice. The former Real Madrid captain moved to PSG in 2021 after a long and trophy-laden spell in Madrid. He spent two seasons in Paris but failed to secure a regular starting spot, after which he returned to Sevilla and later continued his career in Mexico with Monterrey.

Now, at 39, he is expected to return to European football. French media report that Nice is negotiating with the experienced defender, with club officials hoping to finalize the transfer during the winter window. The Cote d’Azur club is known for signing seasoned players who can bring stability and composure to key areas of the team, and Ramos is seen in that context as a major reinforcement.

With his extensive experience and an impressive trophy collection, including four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, Ramos would bring not only defensive quality but also strong leadership on the pitch.

Nice considers a player of his profile an important step toward achieving higher ambitions in Ligue 1. Although talks are still in the early stages, it is clear that the club believes Ramos’ arrival could significantly boost the team’s level, both in the domestic league and in European competitions.

Currently, Nice sits just 13th in the Ligue 1 table, with one of the weakest defenses in the league. Injuries to three central defenders—Youssouf Ndayishimiye, Moise Bombito, and Mohamed Abdelmonem—have compounded the problem, making Ramos’ arrival highly anticipated to stabilize the backline as soon as possible.

Interestingly, if Ramos signs, at 39 he would not even be the oldest player in the squad. Nice captain, the celebrated Brazilian defender Dante, celebrated his 42nd birthday in October.
