Liberian boy Weah admits he'd like to retrace his father's footsteps and play for Milan

In the days when Ronaldinho's son Joao Mendes followed in his dad's footsteps and signed for Barcelona, another son of a former superstar is feeling the drawing power of his daddy's former club. Timothy Weah, currently a LOSC Lille player, admitted that he admires the connection between AC Milan and his father, the legendary Liberian ace George Weah.

In the five years George played for the Rossoneri, he won two Scudettos and was recognised as the best player in the world. And so, the club from Stadio San Siro is special to Tim.

"Milan is in my heart. That club gave everything to my father and my family. It's normal to have a certain bond with the clubs where my father played. Watching the videos on Youtube, you realise the imprint it left on the history of football. And even today, he often talks about his former teammates and friends. All of this is engraved in my mind. Dad was great at Milan."

The 23-year-old winger is under contract with Les Dogues until June 2024, and his current market value is estimated to be around $12 million. Could he also pull on the famous red and black stripes?

"I don't like talking too much about the future also because right now I'm focused on Lille. I just want to help the team and work hard, then we'll see. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Of course, I'd like to retrace my dad's footsteps. It would be something great to play for Milan. I'll keep going on my way and then we'll see."

The USA international has been playing mostly at left-back for his club this season, which took a toll on his goalscoring exploits. But he said he enjoys playing for Lille no matter which position. His father was a deadly goalscorer, though - and getting to score goals for Milan would be quite an achievement.
