Lever don't give up on title as cat-and-mouse game with Bayern continues

Xabi Alonso's crew crushed the third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt and continued breathing down the Bavarians' neck - 4-1

The 2022 UEFA Europa League winners, Eintracht Frankfurt, have been pretty good this season, as they hold the third Bundesliga position. However, the duels against the top two sides, Bayern Munich last week and Bayer Leverkusen tonight, showed the Eagles that they are far from the ruling duo.

The Bavarians crushed them 4-0 last Sunday, and tonight, they suffered another disaster as Lever smashed them 4-1. Even though Bayern have an eight-point advantage in the Germany's top tier - which could mean the secured title considering the Munich side's form - this triumph could serve as a good confidence-booster to Xabi Alonso and his boys ahead of the UCL Round of 16 clash against the Bavarians (Wednesday, 23.00).

Nathan Tella, Nordi Mukiele, and Patrik Schick made it 3-0 in only seven minutes (?!) - between the 26th and 33rd - while Hugo Ekitike's 37th-minute goal turned out to be the only Eintracht's notable moment. The second period was consequently much more peaceful, though the visitors managed to net another time over Aleix Garcia in the 62nd minute.

The "Eintracht case" is closed, and the Bundesliga battle will continue, but now, Bayern are the next Lever's target, so Vincent Kompany and his men should better brace themselves. Because Xabi's machinery is coming!
