LeBron James won an MVP award—but it's not quite what it seems

Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are locked in a tight MVP race, and throughout the season, LeBron James was occasionally mentioned as a potential candidate. It's impressive what the King is doing at 40, but as the season progressed, he gradually dropped out of the MVP conversation.

He's been an MVP contender his entire career, and this year he will get an award—but not the real one. Shaquille O'Neal has once again handed out the "Shaqtin’ A Fool MVP" trophy to the player with the most hilarious moments of the season. The announcement featured Boban Marjanovic, one of the most beloved and entertaining NBA players of the past decade.

Despite earning this less-than-flattering honor, LeBron still averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds over 70 games this season—proving he remains one of the league’s top performers.

Former NBA player Jeff Teague recently said LeBron "doesn't play serious basketball anymore," and there’s some truth to that. James is clearly enjoying himself in Los Angeles during the twilight of his career. However, with Luka Doncic by his side, he may have a shot at a fifth title—so we’ll see if his approach changes next season.
