Reports say Hansi Flick rejected the job offer as he is set to become the next Germany national team coach
Joan Laporta is running out of time to make a change at the Barcelona bench. After a difficult season and a waysted opportunity to secure the title, Ronald Koeman is under heavy pressure, as some board members believe he should be sacked. And Laporta have done his due diligence, but so far, no suitable alternatives were found.
The last in line was Hansi Flick, a German coach who won six titles with Bayern Munich in a single season, but opted out of his contact after the season, amid disagreements with the sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. As per ESPN, Laporta contacted Flick about the Barcelona’s coach position but was rejected, as the German told Barca’s president that his deal to become next German national team boss is almost complete.
This is not the first time that Laporta turned his eyes toward Germany. The Spaniard likes the way Bayern and other clubs are operating and want’s to learn from it. Recent claims were made that Laporta made enquiries about former RB Leipzig manager and sporting director Ralf Rangnick about taking a similar role in Barcelona, and was thinking of pairing him (again) with Juilan Nagelsmann as coach, but the move didn’t happen, and Nagelsmann ended up in Bayern anyway, as his long time which was fulfilled.
The last known option for Laporta was a long time player and legend Xavi Hernandez, but this idea was rebuffed too, as the rookie manager has renewed his contract with Al Sadd until 2023, with no Barca clause, which would allow him to resign if his former club comes calling.
❗️ Barcelona recently contacted Hans-Dieter #Flick's people to find out about his availability, but the still Bayern Munich coach let them know that he has practically everything arranged to replace Joachim Löw as the manager of the German national team. [espn] pic.twitter.com/BcO1nSQreL

Being an experienced player and manager, the Dutchman knows he is under pressure after losing against Granada and drawing against Atletico and Levante.
"Coaches are always questioned. But I understand that, after that second half, there are questions. Our aim was to win all three games and hope that the others would lose points. But now it's difficult. Games last for 90 minutes and we lost a lot in the second half. Levante caused problems and we didn't defend well. It's very disappointing. It's impossible to understand what happened. It's difficult to explain it" said Koeman after the game in which his team led 2-0 at halftime, only to end it 3-3.
It’s now a waiting game. Will Laporte find another suitable candidate until June, or will Koeman survive until the 2022, when his contract runs out?
