Laces off, power on: Barca's prodigy Gavi finds it common to play with his shoes untied

Believe it or not, he actually doesn't know how to tie them. And, quite frankly, doesn't care either...

It was in the midst of that Valencia vs Barca tie at Mestalla on Sunday when we noticed that again. A 17-year-old Blaugrana winger had just assisted Aubameyang for his second and Barca's third goal of the game, rushing to celebrate it with the Gabonese striker, but in rather interesting circumstances.

Gavi's boots were totally untied, which, obviously, didn't prevent him from displaying his paramount talent across the pitch for the entire match.

The teenager brought up in the famous La Masia academy, Barca's youth setups which provide those kids with much more than a simple footballing education, somehow is reaching his 20's without knowing how to tie his shoes.

Ok, it's not the essential thing in the world, you probably say. And you'll make a point with that one, for sure. But it's pretty surreal for a boy of such extraordinary gift to be at least interested in such common habit and knowledge, which affects his performance too. Or it doesn't at all?

According to Spanish media, Gavi has been playing like that ever since he started kicking the ball in Barca's youth teams and, as things stand, will continue like that. Sometimes, however, you can see his teammates helping him with it, which is even more bizarre, resembling those dad-son moments of bonding in the formative years.

VILLAREAL - JUVENTUS

His teacher Xavi obviously has no problem with this Gavi's tradition as long as he keeps delivering those masterful performances on the pitch. And he's definitely a gem that keeps on shining. Even with his boots untied.
