At the Marist International University College in Karen, Vihiga Queens once again dropped points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kibera Soccer Women
Kenya Police Bullets extended their lead at the top of the FKF Women Premier League table to five points following their 1-0 win over Zetech Sparks in a Women Premier League match played on Saturday 24 January at the Zetech University, Mang’u Campus.
Police went into the match sitting at the summit of the league table with 28 points, two more than second placed Ulinzi Starlets with Vihiga United closing the top three with 25 points.
Coach David Vijago made several changes to his starting eleven with Harambee Stars duo of Medina Abubakar and Dinana Wacera returning to midfield as Puren Alukwe provided width from the right flank.
The law enforcers had a strong start to the match with Alukwe and Kunihira proving to be a headache to the Zetech defense.
It was Kunihira who went ahead to give the defending champions the lead in the 39th minute with a well taken strike to take her season goal tally to 12, two ahead of Vihiga’s Martha Amunyolete
Police who were welcoming a new team bus not only took their lead to half time but also to the final whistle.
Police have now moved to 31 points and have a five point lead ahead of Ulinzi Starlets’ match away to Kisped Queens.
At the Marist International University College in Karen, Vihiga Queens once again dropped points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kibera Soccer Women in a match that was played from 1615 hrs.
Vihiga went into the match in third position having dropped points against Bungoma Queens in their previous match.
The Kenyan giants were the better side in the first half but had to wait until the 43rd minute for a goal which was scored by Anita Namata to give Vihiga a half time lead.
The Boniface Nyamunyamu-coached side were destined for a win but it was not meant to be as Kibera equalized in the 94th minute through Anney Matinde from a Grace Wekesa assist.
