KSSSA games: St Anthony’s Boys Kitale upbeat ahead of national games

St Anthony’s Boys Kitale, popularly known as Solidarity Boys, have strengthened their pursuit to reclaim East Africa secondary school title they last won in 2018.

Head coach Peter Mayoyo said the hunt for the national and East Africa title is unstoppable and expressed confidence of a successful journey to reclaim the titles.

“The journey has not been easy. Anytime you are champions you are a team to beat. Every team wants to beat us but we are doing our best to get here. Patience has been key in getting these players to this level. We also have good structures, from form one to form four,” he noted.

The strikers scored 34 goals in five matches at the zonal level, and they scored more in the sub-county games.

At the zonal level, the Saints exhibited their formidable prowess as they dismissed their neighbors Weaver Bird 13-0. Their fine form continued at the county level where they were crowned Trans Nzoia champions.

Last year, Solidarity Boys were defeated at the regional level, and they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways. They are also bolstered by noisy home support.

“Last year we were defeated at the regional level but we did not give up. To reach this stage, we have had our fair share of challenges,” the Big Machine told Mozzart Sport.

The Big Machine also congratulated his charges' efforts to multitask studies with training. He noted that Solidarity Boys were fossils in experience at the East African level.

“These are students who have to multitask between playing and studying. Our motto is St Anthony is a school of scholars and sportsmen. So, studies and playing go hand in hand because everything has its own time.

These boys have carried books and we are guiding them, we even carry exams for them. Our last student last year scored a B-,” he explained.

Banking on the sharpness the team has shown in the recent matches, Mayoyo said their journey to the East Africa Games to be held in Rwanda is promising.

“We have come here for the win. We want to go back to the East African games. We have experience at the East African level. Every team here won at the regional level, so we are not underestimating any team. But we will play every match as a final,” he concluded.
