KSSSA Games: Shanderema and Bujumba High School begin hunt for regional title

At stake will be the title, and most importantly, tickets to the national games

Little known Busia county representatives Shanderema Secondary School will settle scores against Emusire in Thursday’s highlight Kenya Secondary School School Soccer Games.

At the same time, Bujumba High School will square out against Kibabii, before Lukhuna tackle Busia power house John Osogo. The preliminaries will continue until Friday, ushering in semi finals later in the day.

Kenya Secondary School Soccer Games (regional level) got underway in various provinces in the country on Wednesday.

The five day showpiece will feature football, volleyball, 3X3 basketball, netball, and racquet games.

At stake will be the title, and most importantly, tickets to the national games.

In Western ,the opening ceremony was slated at Bukhungu Stadium with the opening match enticing the scorpions (Musingu High School) against Vihiga county representatives Vihiga High School who are making a comeback at the regional stage.

Elvis Ochieng' was the hero of the day as his brace propelled Musingu over Vihiga, moving them on top of Pool A which also includes Bungoma county representatives Kibabii and Bujumba from Busia.

Other matches in the border province will be held at Mukumu Boys Approved Primary School Grounds, St. Peters' Seminary and Bukhungu Stadium.

In Rift Valley, St. Antony Kitale started the hunt for regional glory and a chance to grace the national games with a narrow win over Christ the King who had humbled Ololunga three goals to one. Kabarnet Boys had a field day toying Loima School three goals to nil .

In the girls category, Trinity Mission whitewashed Kericho County representatives Sosiot Girls three goals to one as power house Wiyeta were held to a barren draw by Falling Water in pool D.

Mogotio girls on the other hand moved at the helm of Pool D after humbling Nyiro two goals to nil.

Elsewhere, Eastern Region games will kick off on 20th July at Machakos School with all eyes on Kwanthanze Girls and Iruma Girls.

The Nyanza Regionals games have been moved to Saturday 22nd July.

On Saturday, all teams are anticipated to arrive at Maranda High School from 2:00 PM, with first games in each discipline kicking off the same day and will run until Tuesday 25th July .

Winners in each region will battle for East Africa Secondary School Soccer Games’ tickets in the national finals set for Kakamega High School later next month.
