The Afraha Stadium will be able to accomodate 20,000 spectators once renovations are complete.
The Nakuru County Government has revealed that the Ksh 650 million Afraha Stadium renovations are set to be complete by March 2022.
Renovations of 8,000 seater stadium commenced back in January 2021 and rendered 2010 Kenyan Premier League champions Ulinzi Stars ‘homeless’.
Speaking during an official groundbreaking ceremony in the stadium, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui announced that the stadium will be upgraded to international standards.
“Through the funds allocated by World Bank, we are changing the face of Afraha Stadium. We had old structures before and could not accommodate many spectators,”
The construction of the new look ,world standard Afraha stadium and that of upcoming national housing programme project Nakuru chapter, will constructively engage the jobless youth for the next 18months ,as we expand our businesses out of CBD.

Kinyanjui added that once the renovations are complete the stadium will be able to comfortably host a variety of games including rugby and athletics.
Once the stadium is done, it will be officially launched in April 2022 with the contractors promising to upgrade the stadium to international standards.
The stadium will also be able to accommodate 20,000 spectators once the second phase is complete making it one of the largest stadiums after Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium.
With the stadium being renovated Ulinzi Stars have been using the Kericho Green Stadium as their home.
